My name is Joe Trevors, and my journey with PTSD, ADHD, and OCD has shaped not only who I am but also my deep commitment to helping others overcome their own challenges.
My story took a pivotal turn on October 23, 2015, a day that marked the beginning of what I often refer to as my “fiery spiral.” The aftermath of that day led to a diagnosis that explained much of the turmoil I had been experiencing. Determined to share my story and help others, I launched my first website 9 years ago, laying bare my battles with mental health. Through that platform, along with radio interviews and public appearances, etc., I reached out to those who, like me, were struggling to find their way.
However, to say that the response wasn’t exactly what I’d expected, would be an understatement.
I lost many people in my life, and even my wife, out of concern, asked me to consider taking the site down, and to lessen the amount I discussed my challenge with mental health. Reluctantly, I removed the website and erased the social media posts that chronicled my challenges. But now, years later, I wish I had kept moving forward. I realize that the work I do in genomics and health help many, but I also recognize that sharing my personal experiences from 2015 and beyond could have continued to help others in different and yet profound ways.
As a father, I sometimes worry about how my children, now 13 and 10, might perceive my struggles when they are old enough to read about them, sure. But I also know that vulnerability is not weakness—it’s a testament to strength and resilience. Through PTSDeprogrammed, I want to reach out to others who are navigating their own mental health battles and show them that it is possible to overcome, to heal, and to thrive.
At ENERGIA VITA | The Trevors Clinic for Functional Health, where I serve as a Certified Functional Nutrition Counsellor, Certified Nutritionist, Cognitive Behaviour Therapist, Quantum Health Coach, Mindfulness ‘Master’ Practitioner, etc., I apply the lessons I’ve learned on my journey to help others. My mission is to empower you to believe in your ability to heal—because I believe that PTSD and trauma can be deprogrammed.
It is my hope that this platform becomess more than just a website; additionally a space where we can share stories, explore healing, and support and inspire each other to take the next step toward recovery. You’re not alone in this journey, and together, we can reclaim the life that trauma tried to take away.
